台灣?域哺乳動物種??已達 80 種，?包括?種新近發現尚未分?之物種。台灣雖是各島嶼但?生哺乳動於亞洲地區平均單位面積種?最高，其中特有種樹亦高達25 種之多。本誌內容乃整?以往的哺乳?研究報告以及相關大學實驗室???的研究調查現場資?，針對台灣70 種已命名哺乳?動物進?哺乳動物誌的編撰。各物種將就分佈 (Distribution)、形態(Identification)、生態(Ecology)、及?考文獻 (Reference) 編撰。藉由本誌的出版，將台灣地區的哺乳?動物資源做一個完整的資?彙整與介紹，以呈現台灣豐富的哺乳?動物多樣性，進而深化哺乳?動物的基礎研究與?實生物多樣性保育教育工作，並作為相關單位經營管?與生態?遊規劃之?考。本計畫第一?針對撰寫格式及29 種小型哺乳?物種之撰寫已接近完成。本計畫之完成將可促進台灣地區哺乳動物多樣性的起源及其保育的相關基礎研究，以期建構東亞亞熱帶地區哺乳動物多樣性的學術網?，並以此?展台灣在哺乳?學的新視野，提昇國際學術地位。且按照?動方案?D1202?之規劃，逐?完成台灣哺乳誌之編撰。 The native Taiwanese mammals, excluding of cetaceans, consist of ca. 80 species, including recently new discovered species but not yet nomenclature. The number of the native species of per area is the highest in the eastern Asia areas. Thus, the Taiwanese mammal fauna is abundant for its small island area. Existence of many endemic mammals, namely about 25 species, is the other characteristics of the Taiwanese mammal fauna. Conservation on biodiversity is an important issue nowadays and it is getting more and more important to protect these native species in Taiwan. An update fauna is very important for the reference on the conservation practice. In addition, a complete fauna published by English is also to aid foreign researchers to cooperative with us for mammalogy. In order to understand the species diversity of mammals in Taiwan from the fauna project, the contents of each species will be necessary to include distribution, identification and ecology, also with photos. With this basic information of Taiwan mammals, the fauna will then be played a important reference for long-term biodiversity researches in Taiwan. In the first year we have done the manuscript of the small mammal fauna (including shrews, moles, rats and squirrels). According to the project no of D1202, fauna will be complete by the guideline of NSC.
